Many times we look around us and point the fingers. We says that it is “their” fault, but what about us, are we being complacent to the evils around us?
Many times I find myself seeing a problems, but saying I can’t do anything about it. When each of us says this, then as a group we do nothing.
Martin Niemöller was outspoken against Hitler and he wrote about the need for action.
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”
When we see injustice in the world, we must take action. Each of us has power, even individually, each little action can bring together others with a great power. It is when we do nothing that evil triumphs.
