I was reading a news article today, it started with this quote by Edward Hale.
“I am only one, but I am one. I can’t do everything, but I can do something. The something I ought to do, I can do. And by the grace of God, I will.”
This made me think about life and my place in it. There are so many problems in the world, problems I cannot fix. However, just because I cannot totally fix them, does not mean that I should sit back and do nothing. I have a voice, I have a mind, I have hands and feet… I have been blessed in so many ways. To say… I am not capable…would be say…all God has given me, I choose to ignore.
Even while I am writing this, I think of two things… first, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. While there is controversy over the Ice Bucket Challenge, the point I want to make is: person by person this challenge has raised over 31 million dollars. No one person did it all, it was little actions taken by many. The second thing which comes to mind is this short video clip I saw on Facebook.
Each of us has been given a gift… our lives. No matter who we are, what we do or where we live, we can make an impact on those around us and our society. Some of us can do much and some of us can do little, but we can DO SOMETHING! We can change the world, one action at a time.
